Bamboo

Mature Golden Crooked Stem Bamboo, pruned up
Bamboo may be used as a privacy screen, as a stand-alone "ornamental", or for erosion control. It has other "fun" attributes such as beautiful canes that can be cut and used and edible shoots (eat alone or in a stir-fry). We offer two basic sizes of bamboo: Medium-Size, which is appropriate for most urban settings, and Timber Bamboo, which grows much larger.

You will often hear two "negative" comments about bamboo. First, "It will take over my yard", through spreading. It is true that the bamboo we carry will spread, but the spreading can be controlled and it is not overly-rapid anyway. The second comment is that bamboo leaves fall off. That is true--bamboo is an "evergreen", meaning that it doesn't lose its leaves in the Fall like deciduous trees; but the leaves don't last forever and when they die they fall off. This isn't the end-of-the-world either, but when placed next to a patio or close to a neighbor's property, it needs to be considered.
