Coral Bark Maple

5-6' Coral Bark Maple at our Snohomish Nursery

Coral Bark Maple is a Japanese Maple variety that is prized for its winter interest and vase-like growth habit. Coral Bark Maple displays vivid red-orange stems in winter that are best displayed against a contrasting background such as dark evergreens, or walls and buildings that contrast with its brightly colored winter stems. Also beautiful against the open sky. Summer foliage is golden-green with reddish tints. Fall color picks up more reddish-peachy tints. Very popular.

ATTRIBUTES

Foliage: Deciduous

Mature Height: To 15-25ft.

Mature Width: To 15-20ft.

Sunlight: Full sun, partial sun.

Soil: Moist/well-drained.

Growth Rate: Fast when young, then slowing to moderate

Comments: Does well in containers. A recipient of the “Award of Garden Merit” and a Pacific Northwest “Great Plant Pick”;

however, we always tell people that these trees are somewhat “fragile” and often don’t have a long lifespan.

Most of our trees are so large that people usually hire us to also deliver and install them. When we install trees we include a one year Warranty for no additional charge. For plantings involving several trees we usually include a Watering System and a Starter Kit (sprayer and root enhancer), also for no additional charge.
